For our October HUG meetup, we gathered in our community room of our office in Soulard, next to the famous Soulard Farmer's Market. The two founders of Leap Clixx, Michael Kiel and Chans Weber, gave a presentation on the HubSpot CRM.
Mike gave us the basics of what to expect from the presentation with a well thoughtout intro and Chans took us on a walkthrough of the software. This presentation was all about the CRM; how it works, how it helps align your sales and marketing team, followed by a brief Q&A session. This was all great advice that most any marketer would be wise to implement as soon as possible.
Here was the overall agenda for the Lunch and Learn and the presentation:
- Networking (15 minutes)
- Discussion (30 minutes) - Why your business needs a CRM system
- Demo (15 minutes) - See how we use HubSpot's free CRM
- Q&A (15 minutes)
This was our first lunch time event and it went well. It started off slow, but as people trickled in the networking started and of course everyone loves free food, so you can't go wrong with that. It was great to see some familiar faces as well as some new ones.
The discussion was a continuation of the networking, which led into Mike starting the presentation. He went over the basics of the HubSpot CRM and warmed the crowd up for the awesome demo that Chans was about to give the now full (on sandwiches) crowd.
Chans went over the technical side of the CRM, including how the sales side connects with the marketing side of things. He also gave a good overview of "Sidekick" which is a great tool for sales teams. He went on to do a live walkthrough of the next couple steps of the sales funnel, which intrigued the crowd and led to some great questions.
Once again this was an overview of the CRM and not a deep dive into how you should use it to run your business. Some of the questions were so good, the presentation got a little more involved and everyone seemed to appreciate the extra bits of knowledge that came from the Q&A. Some of the crowd members even had some great software they used and shared that with everyone. The first few audience members to ask questions received some HubSpot Swag.
Our next meeting will be held sometime at the end of November or early December at the same location (1535 S 8th in St. Louis, MO). Be sure to tell your friends. We are still deciding if we will do another lunch and learn or if we will do an after work event. Also we expect to have a special guest (but we can't tell you who yet). You won't want to miss it! We will send out RSVP details as soon as we have everything locked down. See you then!
